Based in Tunis, Abir provides support to ensure impactful implementation of NRGI’s Tunisia programming, leading budget monitoring and capacity building projects, managing grant-making, and supporting NRGI’s work on energy transition and transition minerals.

Prior to joining NRGI, Abir worked as an energy consultant with several non-governmental organizations in Tunisia. She was a project lead with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES Tunisia) and the Climate Action Network Arab World (CAN AW), where she worked on the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into national strategies through policy research and analysis, capacity building and policy dialogue. She is also a founding member of the Tunisia Energy Society (TENS) and an executive committee member of the Tunisian Oil and Gas Association (ATPG). She maintains strong relationships with key actors in Tunisian civil society.

Abir holds a research master’s degree (with honors) in environmental geology and a bachelor’s degree in petroleum geology, specializing in shale gas, from Tunis El Manar University. She also has received training on natural resource governance, sustainable development and climate change science and negotiation. She speaks Arabic, French and English.
