Data plays an important role in the field of resource governance, and organizations around the globe are producing and using data on key resource governance issues. In order to help users navigate the vast supply of data and the diverse global availability of data use cases, NRGI has created two searchable online repositories, or ecosystems, that focus on data supply and data use.
These can help researchers, activists and others find, use and build on the most relevant work in the field, or discover new areas for exploration and action.
The repositories are filterable by key variables such as the relevant region or country, the type of resource governance data used, and the type of product produced.
Extractives Data Ecosystem: Data Supply
In this ecosystem, users will find links to websites and data portals with extractives data relevant to resource governance. The portals are tagged by the relevant country or region, the subject matter, and in what format the data is accessible (whether as structured data, geospatial shapefiles or quantitative indices).
Extractives Data Ecosystem: Data Use
This ecosystem contains links to online projects that make use of extractives data for analysis, visualization or digital storytelling. The projects vary greatly in their methodology, type of data and final product, including interactive visualizations, research papers and fiscal models.
