Which Countries Have Successfully Managed Mineral Reserves?

RAW Talks, an online interview series focusing on how societies can unlock maximum value from their natural resources, interviews thought leaders for their unique perspectives on global and local issues in oil, gas and mining.

In this trailer, NRGI president and CEO Daniel Kaufmann and a wide range of experts point to countries that have managed resource wealth derived from mining successfully—a difficult task.

Kojo Busia, acting coordinator of the African Minerals Development Centre, and Kaufmann both mention Chile’s strong management of its vast red metal reserves.

A number of those interviewed point to Botswana’s stable investment environment, which has produced a “superpower” in the diamond industry. Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy and a member of NRGI’s Advisory Council, highlights NRGI priority country Tunisia, which she says is heading in the right direction due to a commitment to transparency.

A longer interview with Kaufmann on RAW Talks is slated for release in December. More details are forthcoming.
