Social Sharing
As co-chair of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), France will host the OGP Global Summit 2016, its fourth such meeting, in Paris from 7 December through 9 December. Pre-conference events will take place of 5 December and 6 December. 

The partnership gathers 70 member countries and hundreds of civil society organizations that promote transparency, citizen participation and democratic innovation.

The OGP summit will involve 3,000 representatives. Heads of state and governments, ministers, public servants, members of parliament, local authorities, civil society representatives, start-ups and digital innovators, civic techs, developers, researchers and journalists will gather in Paris to share their experiences and push forward the open government agenda in light of the global challenges.

Wednesday, 7 December

8 am-1 pm
Civil Society Morning
The Civil Society Morning is the principal gathering of the global civil society community working on issues of open governance with the aim to connect, share, create and strategize around and about open government.

NRGI chief operating officer Suneeta Kaimal (@suneetajan) and governance officer Marie Lintzer (@MarieLintzer) will participate. 


Thursday, 8 December

Extractives Data: How the World has Changed, and What Lies Ahead
The aim of this session is to demonstrate how the flurry of extractives data seen in the last few years can empower people.

How Can We Improve Respect for Civic Space in OGP Countries? 
The objective of the session is to increase understanding of the scale and nature of threats to civic space, detail recent improvements related to civic space and explore policy options within the framework of the OGP to push for increased respect for civic space across all OGP countries. 

Suneeta Kaimal will chair this discussion. She will be joined by:

Mobile Technologies and Open Data as Tools for Enhancing Accountability and Transparency in Extractives Industries in the Democratic Republic of Congo
How can accountability be enhanced by technology and open data? This session will feature discussions and presentations innovative tech solutions on the way mobile technologies and open data can enhance accountability and transparency in extractives industries in the democratic republic of Congo.

Friday, 9 December

Openness in Natural Resources Working Group Roundtable: “Having the Right Kind of Information and Having it Used”: Increasing the Effectiveness of Natural Resource and Environmental Information Disclosure 
Both OGP governments and civil society share the objective of wanting timely and accurate information on natural resources and the environment disclosed, in order to increase transparency and accountability. However, there is often confusion about the specifics of what types of information should be disclosed, what the information will be used for, and what is the best platform for releasing it.

NRGI governance officer Marie Lintzer (@MarieLintzer) and Carole Excell (@lovemebrownin) of the World Resources Institute will facilitate this session.
