The 2018 course will run from 10-14 September. The application window will open on 3 April and will close on 1 June.

Developed through a unique collaboration between Oxford University's Blavatnik School of Government and the Natural Resource Governance Institute, this intensive five-day course provides the training and insight required for senior policy-makers from around the world to manage and govern their nation’s oil, gas or mineral resources for a better future.

Led by globally recognized experts, and using the Natural Resource Charter as a guiding framework, the course is designed to encourage senior level policy-makers from different countries to share their own experiences while gaining insights and specialist knowledge about natural resource management. It will explore the many dimensions of oil, gas and mineral governance, including:
  • Discovery and managing public expectations
  • Tax and contracts
  • National resource companies
  • Resource revenue management and investment
  • Governance and political commitment
On completion of the course, participants will have a clear understanding of the elements of a national natural resource strategy, and the ability to lead the formation of such a strategy within their respective governments.

The total cost of this course is GBP 8,000. This includes accommodation and meals, but does not cover overseas transport, visas or other incidentals.

This course is aimed at policy leaders in the public and private sector committed to better governance in natural resources and in a position to influence the governance of these sectors. There are a very limited number of scholarships covering the full cost of tuition. These are only available to eligible candidates from a select number of resource-rich countries. These include: Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda.

Download the course brochure or visit the course page for more information.
