The Africa Regional Extractive Industries Knowledge Hub (AFREIKH) will host a virtual "Africa Extractives Learning and Governance Program 2022" from September to November 2022. Registration for this course is now closed.

This advanced-​​​level multi-​​​stakeholder course is open to professionals working in the oil, gas, mining and energy sectors in any of the English-speaking countries in Africa. Applicants should currently be working with key institutions in the sector, specifically government, academia, civil society, media or private sector and have work experience of at least three years in the extractive sector. The course will run in English, so participants should have a good understanding and command of the language.

The course will allow participants to examine topics such as revenue collection and management, economic linkages, environmental, social and health impacts, climate change and energy transition, and explore the future of extractives sector in light of the global challenges.

The course will include a mix of online self-study materials and live interactive lectures by leading experts and group discussions. Participants will have an opportunity to complete video simulation exercises and take part in a quiz and Q&A sessions with extractive industry experts.

About AFREIKH

The Anglophone Africa Regional Extractive Industries Knowledge Hub (AFREIKH), hosted at Strathmore University, is a partnership between Strathmore Extractives Industry Centre (SEIC) and the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI). AFREIKH’s aim is to address knowledge gaps in the extractive industries (oil, gas and mining) in Africa through training, research and evidence-based policy engagement with a view to improving the governance of the sector.
