The Beneficial Ownership Transparency Forum organized by the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) took place on 7 September 2021 in London.

This forum engaged representatives from government, oil, gas and mining companies and international accounting and advisory firms to highlight the importance of beneficial ownership information in ending the abuse of anonymous companies and combatting corruption and financial crime. Speakers discussed emerging practices and reforms in beneficial ownership reporting, how such disclosures can be improved and how companies can play a leading role in advancing beneficial ownership transparency. They also considered the role of international accounting and advisory firms in improving and supporting disclosures.

The lunchtime keynote and subsequent public panel featured representatives from the U.K. government, addressed the role that anticorruption and transparency play in its 2021 G7 Presidency. The panel also included executives from BHP and international accounting and advisory firms, as well as representatives from governments and civil society.

NRGI president and CEO Suneeta Kaimal expanded on the case for beneficial ownership transparency and the urgency of reform and provided examples of the potential use of beneficial ownership data.
