María Angélica is based in Bogotá and supports NRGI’s strategy in Colombia, working on the implementation of just energy transition projects.

Prior to joining NRGI María Angélica worked with Foro Nacional por Colombia (Capítulo Región Central) as part of the democratic culture, peace and coexistence team. She worked in research and projects related to citizen participation, social control, mining governance, peacebuilding, gender and women’s rights. She has also held positions in the private sector.

María Angélica holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in international relations and the other in political science from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She is completing a specialization in collective memory, human rights and resistance at Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (Clacso). She speaks Spanish and English.
