Sofía works to influence reform and adoption of leading practices relating to energy transition in Peru and Colombia. She supports projects that address economic and governance challenges in sustainable development and align extractive sector policies to conservation goals.

Prior to joining NRGI, Sofía coordinated projects on deforestation, indigenous rights and environmental defender protection at Oxfam and The Nature Conservancy. She also worked as a consultant, formulating policy papers and facilitating workshops and training on environmental offsets, indigenous rights and the Nagoya Protocol.

Sofía holds a master's degree in environment, politics and society from University College London, where she was a Chevening Scholar. She also holds a bachelor's degree in geography. She speaks Spanish and English.
